Ingredients:
- 1 Large onion
- 1 Small jalepeno
- 2 Tbsp garlic
- 2 Small potatoes
- 1 Large carrot
- 1 Cup lentils
- 1 Quart broth
- 1 Tbsp tomato paste
- 1 Tsp Cumin
- Black pepper
- Salt
- Cooking oil
Steps:
- Heat some oil in a medium size pot.
- Add your onions, jalapenos, garlic, and any other vegetable you wish to saute. Saute for four minutes.

- Add tomato paste, cumin, chili powder, black pepper, salt, and any other spices. Saute for two minutes.

- Add your broth, two cups of water, carrots or potatoes or both. Heat until simmer.
- When simmering, cover with lid. Lower heat to maintain simmer. Maintain this simmering for 30 minutes or until lentils are to desired softness.

- Serve soup.
